How should I store my coffee?Updated 9 months ago

All whole bean Purity Coffee orders are roasted fresh to order and ship directly from our roasting facility. Your whole bean coffee is packed in a resistant, zip-locking bag that is heat sealed with nitrogen on the same day the coffee is roasted. Nitrogen is puffed into the bag before sealing to displace the oxygen that stales coffee. Unopened bags of Purity Coffee will stay fresh tasting for about 10 months when packed with nitrogen, but of course it is best to consume sooner than later.

The best way to store upon opening is in a well-sealed, opaque container on your pantry shelf. The basic principles of keeping roasted coffee fresh are to keep your coffee away from:

  • Moisture

  • Heat

  • Direct Sunlight

  • Oxygen (as much as possible)

  • Odors

Once a bag has been opened, we recommend consumption within a month. If you have a large amount of coffee, such as a 5lb bag, and need to store it for longer after opening it, we recommend using a vacuum storage container. We recommend TightVac for up to 5 lbs of coffee storage or AirScape for a smaller storage container.

Even with a vacuum storage container, it is best to portion out the amount you will go through in 1-2 weeks in a separate, well-sealed containers. This will ensure you are not exposing the entirety of the coffee to oxygen on a daily basis.
